Ahabs Soul

Well I leave a white and turbid wake
pale waters and paler cheeks
wherever i sail I´m impatient of
all misery in others that is not mad

Well here saturn´s great chaos
rolls over me and I obtain
dim shuddering glimpses into
polar eternities

Well light though thou be
thou leapest out of darkness

but I am darkness leaping out of light
leaping out of thee

so the ship and boat did diverge
and the damp night breeze blew between
and a screaming gull flew overhead
and the two hulls wildly rolled

Well alike joy and sorrow
hope and fear
seemed ground to finest dust
and powered for the time
in the clamped mortar
of Ahab´s iron soul

So we gave three heavy hearted cheers
and then we blindly rolled
like fate itself into the
lone Atlantic

sailor singing la la la etc

Well alike joy and sorrow
hope and fear
seemed ground to finest dust
and powered for the time
in the clamped mortar
of Ahab´s iron soul

Well light though thou be
thou leapest out of darkness

but I am darkness leaping out of light
leaping out of thee

So we gave three heavy hearted cheers
and then we blindly rolled
like fate itself into the
lone Atlantic

sailors singing la la la etc
